Learn how to use Scoutly, step-by-step guides for users and scouts
Getting Started
Download the Scoutly app from the App Store or Google Play, or visit our website. Sign up with your email, phone number, or continue with Google or Apple. Verify your account and you're ready to go.
Check your email or phone for a verification code after signing up. Enter the code when prompted to complete verification.
Go to Profile from the sidebar. Add your name, city, and province or state. A complete profile helps Scouts send you more relevant offers.
Once you're approved as a Scout, you can toggle between User and Scout modes from your profile. Each mode has its own dashboard and features.
Scoutly is available in English, French, and Spanish. You can change your language anytime in Settings, then Language.
Posting Requests & Getting Offers
From your Dashboard, type what you need in the prompt box. Our AI helps categorize it automatically, or you can pick a category manually. Your request goes live instantly to qualified Scouts.
Type naturally, for example, "I need home internet under $80/month." The AI extracts your industry, requirements, and creates a structured request that Scouts can respond to quickly.
Be specific: include your budget, location, timeline, and key requirements. For example, "Looking for auto insurance in Toronto, clean driving record, need by March 30" gets much better offers than just "need car insurance." The more detail you provide, the more relevant your offers will be.
Go to My Requests and tap a request to see all incoming offers. You can view Scout profiles, ratings, and offer details to compare your options side by side.
Reply to an offer to start a conversation with the Scout. Or decline it, the Scout will be notified. There's no obligation to accept any offer.
Once you reply to an offer or contact a Scout through their Showcase, the conversation appears in your Messages tab. All communication is kept within the app for your convenience.
Browsing & Showcases
Tap Showcases in the sidebar to see all active listings. You can filter by industry to find relevant deals and services.
Tap the heart or favourite icon on any Showcase to save it for later. You can find your saved Showcases in your favourites.
Tap the Showcase to view full details, then tap "Contact Scout" to start a conversation. The Scout will be notified and can respond directly.
Views shows how many people saw the Showcase. Favourites shows how many saved it. Replies shows how many started a conversation with the Scout.
More engagement means higher ranking. Views, favourites, and replies all contribute to a Showcase's visibility. Longer-running Showcases build momentum over time and tend to rank higher.
Becoming a Scout
Four steps. (1) Create a free Scoutly account if you don't have one. Every scout account is also a regular user account, same login. (2) Verify your phone number from your profile. This unlocks the scout application. (3) From your Dashboard, tap "Become a Scout", then pick your industry, specialization, and service area and submit credentials + ID. (4) Our team reviews every application personally and you'll get an accepted or declined decision the same day, usually within the hour. If accepted, you go live immediately with a free 30-day Featured showcase.
Phone verification confirms you're a real person, lets us send you lead alerts when a buyer drops a prompt in your area, and reduces fraud, since verified numbers protect buyers from fake scouts. Open Settings → Account, add your phone, and confirm the SMS code. The scout application opens once verification is done.
Your industry, your specialization within that industry, your service area (city / region / country), your years of experience, employer or business name, a brief bio, and a government-issued ID for identity verification. Most applications take about five minutes to fill out.
We aim to review every application within an hour during business hours, and always the same day. You'll get a notification with an accepted or declined decision. If we decline, we'll tell you exactly why (usually missing credentials or an unclear specialization) so you can update and re-apply.
Select from 14 industries during your application. This choice is locked once you're approved, so choose the industry where you have the most experience and can provide the best service.
Add your bio, employer or business name, social links (LinkedIn, Instagram, website), and experience details. A complete profile builds trust with users and helps you win more offers.
Once approved, go to Incoming Requests on your Scout dashboard. Browse requests in your industry, then send personalized offers to users who match your expertise.
Managing Your Scout Business
Go to My Showcases and tap Create. Add your title, description, offer type, pricing details, and validity dates. Your Showcase will be visible to users browsing your industry.
From My Showcases, tap Boost on an active Showcase. Choose a 24-hour, 7-day, or 30-day boost. Boosted Showcases get higher placement and increased visibility.
My Showcases shows live metrics for each listing: views, favourites, replies, and time remaining. Use these insights to optimize your Showcase content.
Go to Settings, then Subscription. You can view your current plan, see your usage, and manage your billing details.
Go to Settings, then Subscription, then Change Plan. Select your new tier. Changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
Go to Settings, then Subscription, then Referrals. Copy your unique referral link and share it. Each completed referral earns you one free month of your current subscription plan.
Yes. Your scout account is also a regular Scoutly account, same login, same app. Drop a prompt anytime you need help with marketing, staffing, insurance, telecom, accounting, design, legal, real estate, or almost anything you'd hire out. Verified scouts in those industries respond with real offers, the same way they respond to your clients. Your scout subscription doesn't cost extra to use Scoutly as a buyer.
Account & Settings
Go to Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Change Password. Enter your current password and create a new one.
Go to Profile from the sidebar. You can edit your name, city, province or state, and other personal details.
Go to Settings, then Notifications. Toggle email, push, and SMS notifications on or off for different notification types like messages, offers, and updates.
Go to Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Two-Factor Authentication. Follow the prompts to set up an additional layer of security for your account.
Go to Settings, then Account, then Delete Account. Your data will be permanently purged within 30 days. Any active subscriptions will be cancelled automatically.
Billing & Subscriptions
Free: 5 offers/month, $0. Pro: 25 offers/month, $24.99 CAD/month. Elite: 100 offers/month, $59.99 CAD/month. Max: Unlimited offers, $219.99 CAD/month.
Billing is monthly and recurring through a secure payment processor. Your currency is based on your country, CAD for Canada, USD for the United States.
Yes, cancel anytime from Settings, then Subscription. There are no contracts and no cancellation fees. Subscriptions are non-refundable for the current billing period.
Boost purchases are one-time payments processed instantly. The boost activates immediately on your active Showcase and runs for the duration you selected (24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days).
